It won’t be long now and we’ll be welcoming you all back with socially distanced open arms! We’ve been so touched and encouraged by your messages and orders during our closure and want to send you a huge ‘thank you’ for your loyalty and support. Fingers crossed, our new way of working goes well and we can welcome even more of you very soon. WE’VE MISSED YOU!! We plan to open again on Wednesday 17th June. Initially we will be opening Tuesday to Saturday from 10 till 3 with a limited staff. As with everywhere else, the shopping experience with us will be very different for the foreseeable future. We have put new systems in place which will be constantly reviewed to ensure that everyone is kept as safe as possible. We know they will feel awkward and possibly at times irritating but would ask you to bear with us – we share your irritations! So here’s what we’re planning… We will be limiting the number of people in the shop to 2 people (shoppers only – please leave anyone other than children who need to be supervised outside) We would ask you to wait to be directed on entry and to use the hand gel provided. There will be a separate exit door in the fabric room to be used. It would help enormously if you could come shopping with a clear idea of what you want, to limit browsing time and with any measurements already calculated – we will have limited staff and less time to do this for you as we usually do. This seems harsh when we know you’re desperate to look at the lovely things we have got but there may be a queue and we want to be able to help as many people as possible. We will be reminding shoppers to keep a social distance as far as possible while in the shop and keep handling of stock to a minimum (SO difficult with all the lovely things we know!). We will only carry out card transactions but there will be no minimum spend needed. We will still be taking telephone and online orders which will be available for safe collection from the shop the following day or which will be posted out within 36 hours. At this point in time we can give you no idea of when our workshops and group sessions can begin to run and we will be contacting everyone who has booked onto a previously scheduled workshop to offer a refund of any deposit paid. All of these measures will be subject to change and adaptation and we’ll keep you fully informed of this as we go along and we would ask you to bear with us during the initial opening period. As always if we can help you with anything we’ll do our very best to do so and, if we can’t get to the phone, please leave a message and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can. Here’s hoping for some happy stitchery shopping for you all very soon.

We hope you’ve had a lovely, relaxing time but are now raring to go with new projects and workshops, all of which we can help you with. Our new workshop programme is now booking (see below) and you can see photos of the samples on the website at www.levencrafts.co.uk and book a workshop too – just click on the picture. There are several new Christmas (dare I mention the word in September!) projects on the schedule, a new bag and a couple of old favourite re-runs in case you missed them. We’ve had some thrilling news this week! In case you haven’t heard (and we’ve been shouting about it loudly enough!) we’ve been nominated in the British Sewing Awards’ Best Independent Retailer North of England category. The selection comes after sufficient numbers of you, our lovely customers, nominated us and so now we’re asking you to vote for us if you would. The link to the voting page is here:- https://www.sewmag.co.uk/awards/voting If you vote you'll be entered into a draw for some amazing prizes worth over £1700, courtesy of Create & Craft including a day at Create and Craft TV with one of its sewing experts, a Butterick EB6100 computerised machine, a sewing bundle worth more than £500, a Singer One Plus computerised model plus £100 credited to your Create and Craft account. Well worth having a vote for we think. Thank you in advance and keep everything crossed for us! In the shop we’ve got an end of Summer yarn sale happening with all Bergere de France yarns and pattern books massively reduced. All yarns are either £1 or £1.50 per ball since we need to make space for more lovely Stylecraft and Sirdar yarns this Autumn. The sale will only be on for a couple of weeks so do call in to grab a bargain soon. Stock is changing rapidly so it’s probably best to avoid a web order in case what you want has gone - you can always ring to check and we can post out to you though. We’ve recently signed up to the DMC Embroidery Partner scheme and have new ranges of embroidery kits arriving regularly over the coming months. The kits are not just cross stitch but also tapestry and freestyle techniques too. The designs are all brand new and many of them come with a wooden embroidery hoop for working the kit and then displaying the finished picture – no framing needed! There are a couple of old favourites included in upcoming collections – The Snowman and Me To You Bears. August’s collection which arrived at the beginning of September has printed aida tropical birds and butterflies and printed freestyle embroideries called Pet’s Party which are ideal for birthday presents or to brighten up a child’s room. While we’ve all been sweltering this Summer, right on schedule, the Christmas (there’s that word again!) fabrics arrived. We took them with us to the Queen Bees Quilt show in Whitby in July and one of the Makower Advent panels sold out! Fear not, we’ve restocked and now have 4 different new advent panels for you – Scandi Trees (grey and red colourways), Silent Night and Jolly Santa and some gorgeous Lewis and Irene Table runner and place mat panels, which we know are just going to fly out the door in the next few weeks. We have lots of co-ordinating seasonal fabrics to tempt you with too once your thoughts turn to matters festive. We’re hoping to see you in the coming weeks once the little people are safely back to school and you can get back to your stitchery. Just a heads up for an upcoming event though. We’re taking part in Sew Saturday again this year on Saturday 6th October so pop it in your diary and we’ll be in touch nearer the time to let you know what exciting events we have planned for you. Meanwhile enjoy the rest of the (hopefully) warm weather and we’ll see you soon. Happy stitching, Ruth, Lorna, Sue and the Leven Crafts girls How the Mystery Block of the Month will work:-

Free motion quilting demonstration - come and watch our Sue create some amazing patterns, textures and pictures whilst quilting -better still, sit down and have a go yourself! Prize draw raffle - we're raising money for Breast Cancer Care with the chance to win a beautiful quilt amongst the prizes. Discount at till prize draw - all purchasers will get the chance to draw out a lucky ticket which might result in a 5% or 10% discount for them. We'd love you to support us on the 21st and hope you'll enjoy what we've planned for you. Don't forget to visit the other lovely independent shops around Chaloner Mews on the day too - we're all great 'go to' destinations for Christmas shopping. See you soon!
