2010 CHARITY CHALLENGE – DONATE A CARD

This year we have chosen to support the work of the local charity NEKPA, The North East Kidney Patients Association. In doing so we challenge you to make a card and donate it to us so we can add it to our auction and sale exhibition to raise funds for them. Our challenge could not be simpler, just create a greetings card or postcard for any occasion using any technique or medium. There is no limit to the number of cards you wish to donate. Stuck for ideas? Well then come along to our taster session on Tuesday August 3rd, call in anytime between 1pm and 4pm, when we will have ideas to get you started. If you can’t make it call in or contact us for our ‘card’ setting out all the details of the challenge. As usual lots of prizes for the winners. The exhibition and sale will be during October half term – watch out for further details.

SALE – TUESDAY JULY 13TH – SATURDAY JULY 24TH

The summer sale starts at 9.30am on Tuesday July 13th so don’t miss the bargains by being late! Lots of fabrics, loads of fat ¼’s, balls and balls of knitting yarns, cross stitch kits and bits ... sure to be something for everyone ... Must end Saturday July 24th at 4.30pm.

FRIDAY JULY 16TH 7PM - QUILT BINGO - SANDIE LUSH

Sandie has kindly offered to arrange a Quilt Bingo fundraising event for us at the shop in support of NEKPA. It promises to be a great evening’s entertainment full off fun, prizes and another chance to see some of her beautiful work. Tickets cost £3 and are now on sale.

SATURDAY AUGUST 28TH 10AM – 12.30PM - COFFEE AND ‘CUPCAKES’

We are pleased to say that we have been asked to host a Quilter’s Guild Region 14 Coffee and Cupcake event. Should be great fun, meet the 2 new regional co–ordinators Dorothy Baird and Janet Crossley who are full of great new ideas for taking the Guild forward in our region. Join them for coffee and a calorie-free cake! Yes, they will guide you in making a simple cup cake patchwork block that hopefully you would like to donate to be made into a quilt to support the Project Linus charity. I am sure we will also be able to find some of the calorie-laden variety for those who like to indulge! So please do come along and show them this area’s support for their work, discover more about the Guild and perhaps even consider joining!

KNIT AND CHAT

Knit and Chat Saturdays for the autumn are September 4th, October 2nd and November 6th. These sessions are free and booking is not required. Please do come along, we meet between 10am and 4pm to enjoy knitting and crochet, with plenty of self-help and lots of friendly chat about the latest trends and new ideas. You will be made most welcome, stay for a couple of hours or stay all day! Tea and coffee is provided for you during the day.
