10-WEEK COURSE DETAILS

The 10-week courses will commence on Friday September 10th and finish on Friday November 26th. The half term break will be from Tuesday October 26th to Friday October 29th inclusive. There will be no courses on Friday November 12th. All courses are for all abilities and can cover all aspects of embroidery, patchwork, quilting, knitting and crochet; days and times are below. The cost of the course is £55. Bookings are now being taken; a deposit of £5 is required to secure your place, the balance being payable at the first session. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be served at the beginning of all the sessions. It is strongly advisable to discuss your chosen project with Beryl prior to the commencement of the course. DAY COURSES

Join us for a friendly, informative and productive day at Leven Crafts. Courses are from 10am–4pm unless otherwise stated. Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided during the day, either bring a packed lunch or visit one of the sandwich shops or cafes nearby. It is our intention to ensure you either complete the project on the day or are sufficiently knowledgeable by the end of the course to finish it at home. All day courses cost £22 per day unless otherwise stated, with a deposit of £5 payable on booking. Refunds on cancellations will be given if the space can be filled and full refunds will be given if we need to cancel a course. A requirement list will be sent to you, via e-mail if possible 2 weeks prior to the course. This enables you to bring any of the items required from home; however should you not have any of the things they will be available to purchase on the day of the course. Samples of the day course projects will be displayed in the shop from mid–August.

FRIDAY JULY 30TH 10am – 2pm	LETS TRY KNITTING
Try out knitting - come along, learn how to knit, how to understand knitting patterns and work basic stitches whilst making a simple project – you never know this could just be the beginning of an absorbing new hobby. Approx cost of materials from £3. Cost of course £15.
WEDNESDAY AUGUST 18TH 10am – 2pm	LETS TRY PATCHWORK
Try out patchwork – come along and we will introduce you to the basics of cutting, piecing and quilting. Create a simple nine-patch block and make it into your very own cushion. Approx cost of materials from £6. Cost of course £15.
THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 9TH	ALLURING FLOWER - ANDREA CROSS
We are excited to have Andrea along to share her fabulous feltmaking skills and artistic flair with us for this workshop. Using simple feltmaking techniques and working with merino tops and hand-dyed silk, create a beautiful, alluring flower either to wear or to give as a special gift. Cost of kit £10.

SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 25TH	FAT EIGHTH QUILT
A very quick to make quilt top uses a selection of fat eighths or can be made with fat ¼’s or scraps. This quilt is suitable for fabrics with large designs. An ideal workshop for everyone with tips on speedy cutting and piecing. Quilting will also be discussed. Approx cost of materials from £20.
SATURDAY OCTOBER 9TH	HEARTS AND DIAMONDS
Start a small bargello cushion in this popular form of canvaswork. Tips for a neat finish to bargello designs that feature interlocking shapes. Worked in your choice of colours of wool this design creates a lovely brocaded effect. Approx cost of materials from £10.
SATURDAY OCTOBER 16TH	CROCHET – CIRCLE IN A SQUARE
A great new granny square design, ideal for coasters, cushions or throws, super for using up odd and ends of yarns from your stash and perfect for both the beginner and the more experienced. Lots of tips and techniques for all. Approx cost of materials from £5..
SATURDAY OCTOBER 23RD	STAR TREE SKIRT
Start now to work an octagonal -shaped patchwork Christmas tree skirt to ensure you have it finished in time to dress your tree! Featuring the Ohio Star block, with lots of tips on rotary cutting, hand or machine piecing and quilting this makes a great workshop for all. Approx cost of materials from £18.
SATURDAY NOVEMBER 20TH	BOX
By request we have created a delightful little pyramid shaped sewing box. Constructed by gluing and stitching and covered in your choice of fabrics this makes a perfect addition to your sewing room. Cost of cardboard kit £5.
SATURDAY NOVEMBER 27TH	PULLED THREAD
Work a sampler of pulled thread stitches. The counted designs are worked in cotton perle thread on linen band and can be kept as a reference or made into an attractive sachet or needle roll. Approx cost of materials from £5.
TUESDAY NOVEMBER 30TH	BEADED ORNAMENT
Work with beads and cross-stitch on perforated paper to make a beautiful 3- dimensional ornament complete with a splendid beaded tassel. Worked in your choice of colour this will be a welcome addition to your tree or adorn a very special gift. Approx cost of materials from £7.
WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 1ST	CALICO CHRISTMAS
New for 2010 a Christmas stocking design, the partner for the bauble design of a couple of years ago. This popular workshop is stitched on cream calico in neutrals with just a hint of sparkle threads using a variety of traditional and creative embroidery stitches and techniques. Cost of kit £6.
SATURDAY DECEMBER 4TH	SHAWL
Using either laceweight or 4-ply yarn in your choice of colour start to knit a delicate little shawl, a perfect fashion statement or gift. Using a circular needle for ease of knitting, work shaping and lace knitting. For a truly professional finish blocking will be demonstrated. Approx cost of materials from £8.
WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 8TH 9.45am – 4pm	CHRISTMAS MEDLEY
A festive day spent with Janice from Clover Florists in Guisborough and Beryl making a number of trimmings for your Christmas celebrations. Make a bespoke Christmas arrangement of fresh greenery, flowers and fruit, stitch a personalised welcome banner in rich Christmas fabrics and add table settings and decorations to the day to make your house a Christmas home. This special workshop includes refreshments, light lunch, demonstrations and all materials for the workshop projects. All inclusive cost of workshop £60. Deposit £10.
